Description

This fully funded start-up is a wholly owned subsidiary of a global enterprise providing space sector services.

It’s been spun-out to create the freedom for this small team to work away from interruption and large corporate baggage. The challenge is to identify, define and develop ground-breaking next-generation space services for the NewSpace market.

They’re about to grow rapidly because they’ve just won a large project with partners and they are the prime.

The opportunity

As senior software architect, you’ll take the lead in defining and delivering cutting edge software and processes in a collaborative environment, working with highly skilled engineers across multiple domains and sites.

  • Plan, design, develop and manage applications
  • Design, develop, prepare test strategies and plans, environments, facilities & equipment.
  • Hire & build your own team
  • Write high-quality code.
  • Work with team leads, Scrum Master and product owners.

Essential

  • 5 years’ experience and work within ITIL, DevOps, Agile and CI/CD.
  • Leadership of design and delivery teams
  • Design, build, test and maintenance of modern software applications.
  • Version control e.g. GIT, Bitbucket.
  • Ability to cope with design complexity and uncertainty.
  • Self-motivated with an aptitude for problem solving and driving difficult issues
  • Experience of mentoring and coaching peers or junior engineers.  

Desirable Skills

  • Kubernetes with: AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with SQL, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C#.
  • Development for a Linux environment.
  • Developing services and applications using Java, TypeScript, and Angular.
  • Scripting, using languages like Bash, PowerShell or Python.
  • Developing software, microservices, APIs, RESTful services.
  • Docker environments.
  • Test automation skills within a continuous integration environment.
  • Satellite communication technologies with an appreciation of satellite subsystems, systems engineering processes and operations environments.
  • Experience with typical ESA project and documentation processes.
  • Eligibility for UK security clearance.

Occasional travel may be required. Rules onsite require British Citizens. You will be required to undergo security clearance.
